Stay safe on canals – [Glasgow] Evening Times
With a scorching summer being predicted, British Waterways is warning visitors about the dangers of Scotland's 137-mile canal network.
While canals provide an ideal location to soak up the sunshine, swimming is strictly prohibited.
A spokesman for the company said any open body of water can be potentially dangerous, particularly for unsupervised children or anyone under the influence of alcohol, so British Waterways Scotland is urging everyone to be careful whilst still enjoying the beauty that canals have to offer.
This is the entire story, as reported in the paper. I wonder if something got lost in translation? My mum's family was from Edinburgh, and her old uncle Ronnie once told me that the reason the west coast was so miserable was that the prevailing winds blew all of Glasgow's joy eastwards.
