Tom Isaacs is starting today from Leeds to walk the Leeds & Liverpool Canal [route here on Canalplan].
He's doing it for the Cure Parkinsons Trust charity. He plans to arrive in Liverpool on Sunday Wednesday April 23rd .
I can't find out much more about the walk online - the most I've found is the pdf announcing the Liverpool dinner on April 23rd. But that's more about the launch of his book about his round-Britain trek than about the canal walk.
Anyway, if you know more than me about Tom Isaacs' Leeds & Liverpool walk, do let me know.
Update: Theresa Samworth of the Cure Parkinsons Trust says:
He’s walking the canal between Leeds and Liverpool to raise funds for The Cure Parkinson’s Trust, a charity Tom co founded in 2005.
Tom was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the age of 27 and the 'Walking the Extra Mile for Parkinson’s' canal walk has the dual aim of promoting his book ‘Shake Well Before Use’ and the work of the charity.
The charity has a bold vision to find a cure for Parkinson’s Disease, please do support Tom if you can - http://www.justgiving.com/cureparkinsons
Shake Well Before Use is a book about a walk around the coastline of Britain. It's not a canal book, so I won't cover it here, but it sounds a fascinating subject.
A walk around the coastline is something I've wanted to do myself for many years. But not until I know every inch of the canals. Interestingly enough, there are about the same number of inches of navigable UK waterways as there are of coastline.
