Boat owner banned from Nottingham canal after parties - BBC News
Canal boat owners will be amused at boater Ben Wincott getting an ASBO. As Waterways World put it: "Are you a member of NABO?" "No, I'm a member of ASBO"
It's ironic he's been branded anti-social, when a large part of the problem is that he's perhaps TOO social.
The story says he's been banned from "part of the Nottingham Canal", and has certain other unusual strictures.
[These include - as Halfie points out , "building and entering Sainsbury's"]:
The court heard that between March and October 2009, Wincott and friends would frequent the Nottingham Canal, mooring his yellow narrow boat outside licensed premises including the Waterfront, Via Fossa and Exchange Bar and Grill.
The group would gather on various canal boats, drink and play loud music, which would drown out the music played by nearby licensed premises.
... The countywide order also bans him from playing music so that it is audible outside his boat, causing nuisance to those in the vicinity, being in possession of an open container of alcohol in a public space or building and entering Sainsbury's at Castle Marina Retail Park.
It's amazing to hear that his music drowned out that of nearby pubs. Anyone who's moored up near city canalside pubs know their own noise can seep through your boat's hull at 1am.
Well, he's got a boat, hasn't he? So he'll just untie from Nottingham and head in my direction. In a few hours he can be out of Notts, past Shardlow, into Derbyshire on the Trent & Mersey Canal, and ready to cause further mayhem.
Never mind his name, that's irrelevant. What's his boat called and how can we know where it is and when to flee when he's near?
Wait, there's a picture of the boat in the Nottingham Evening Post version of the story.
It's yellow, that's all they say. Pretty rare, that, to have a yellow boat. Didn't the Beatles live aboard one?

I like the comment reported in the final line of the 'Post report:
"A lot of people on the canal are fantastic and he stuck out like a sore thumb"
Now, there's a positive comment, Andrew!

The Beatles, 'Yellow Submarine' might suit Wincott better, the water would hopefully drown out his music, then again down in the depths of the canal, wouldn't be quite deep enough, for the likes of him. The fact that he has a boat means he could moor up miles away from anybody so that his passion for far too loud music, wouldn't annoy anybody, I think part of his enjoyment is annoying people though. Very sad me thinks!

Surely more amazing that he's banned from building Sainsbury's?
