Welder exposed to killer dust - Derby Evening Telegraph
Here's a reason to worry about Willington's statuesque power station cooling towers being demolished:
An ex-welder who worked in power stations across Derbyshire died after "crawling around in asbestos dust", an inquest heard.
Lakhbir Johal had spent part of his career working in power stations including Drakelow and Willington.
Derby Coroner's Court heard that during that spell, from 1976 to the late-1980s, he had been constantly exposed to asbestos, even though he never handled it himself.
We'll all be nervously hoping the wind is blowing away from us...

Probably no need to worry about the cooling towers. Asbestos was used in the heat insulation around the hot parts such as the boilers, steam pipes and turbines. It would have been an issue when this equipment was demolised. What remains of the cooling towers is probably only concrete. Sleep easily, Andrew.
