John of NB Alacrity has kindly sent me photos of Granny Buttons in the snow at Hertford last Tuesday.
It's a rare day that sees snow on the canal these days, and seemingly rarer when I'm aboard. And I wasn't in this case - I'm shuttling back and forth to Sussex, trying to sort out my late father's home.
I bet the canal photographers were out in force, though, filling up their memory cards with next year's Christmas cards and calendar shots to pretend that we still have Dickensian winters.
In the Britain of climate change, snow is HTGT. Literally.

Andrew, you're quite right to say that it is rare to see snow on the canal these days. I am one of those canal photographers who does try to get out when there's snow - even though I hate the cold and I go with much sighing. Last decent snow up here was March 2006 and it didn't last long. It was the blue sky, crisp real thing though. Before that I have to go back several years for those conditions. It's even more difficult to get snow, sun and a boat on the move!
