Ralph Freeman's Crumbling Canals blog first drew my attention to Bridge 80 on the North Oxford Canal, back in June.
I'm sure it's less dangerous than it looks, otherwise the health & safety people (the same ones who force experienced lockkeepers to wear lifejackets) would have long since have stoppaged and drained the canal at this point.
But when I passed through a month ago, I got a glimpse of how and why the canals can reach this state.
In short, overcrowding.
