The lady on NB Little More (catchy phrase: 'because no canal is banal') was blogging for about 6 months until last January.
She stopped because she stopped cruising, although she's still got the boat and threatens to hopefully will start again.
(I mentioned originally that I thought she wrote well, but that her posts were quite long and not bite-sized, almost essay length, so better read as feeds rather than by casual browsing.)
I now learn that she's Deborah Newbold, Performer and Storyteller. That explains it. She wasn't writing at length, she was telling stories.
Well, the last eight months haven't been idle ones. She's been writing even more stories, this time to tell in person. And she tells me:
On [Tues] September 2nd, please come, fill your glass and cock an ear to:
The Wrekin Cycle
...a six-month narrowboat adventure...
...from Tod to Trevor,
Norbury to Nafford,
Slattocks to Slapton...
Folk stories, travellers tales and one dodgy singalong.
Brought to you by storyteller Debs Newbold, who went the long way round. (So you didn't have to).Tuesday 2nd September, from 8pm until sometime before 10. With interval and bar.
Storrow Studio,
Cecil Sharp House,
2 Regents Park Road,
NW1 7AY.7 minutes from Camden Tube.
Bar will be open from 7pm.
£5 on the door.
She needs an audience, she says...
... otherwise it'll be me mum, me mates and some story-club bookers! I'm known for my work locally but would like to ply my trade far and wide - so the more people who see me, the better.
You can get a flavour of the evening by reading the blog Little More. Can I have my free ticket now, Debs?
Incidentally, if one is ever planning an event on a particular day, it's good to check the 'this day in history' feature on Wikipedia for any coincidences.
September 2nd, Wikipedia tells us, is the anniversary of the day that Theodore Roosevelt made his famous 'Speak softly and carry a big stick' speech. Ooh-er, I hope Debs doesn't do that.

I could never charge Mr. Granny.B. for a ticket! I am indeed threatening to cruise again, but meantime I will be on the Aylesbury Arm trying to spend the week polishing my tales for the event on the 2nd. Give me a parp if you pass! And as for the performance itself...my seats await your bums! Thanks Granny, Debs x
