River life floats their boat - Shropshire Star
Bruce & Sheila Napier 'got ink' today in Shrewsbury's main newspaper with a good thousand-word article about their life aboard NB Sanity.
It answers a lot of frequently asked questions from people who wonder what a liveaboard's life is like - the drawbacks and benefits.
Unfortunately it fails to mention Bruce's blog (and cruising log) Living In Sanity, so I'll do it here.
Considering the journalist originally contacted Bruce via this comment on his blog, I think he should have added something about how Bruce stays in touch by blogging.
One quote from the article puzzles me:
Bruce says the rise of the supermarket has had an adverse effect on waterways life: "While you can buy routine groceries still from waterside outlets, we do see the effect of the large supermarkets as more and more small shops close down."
Has Bruce tried delivery to the boat by Tesco and other supermarkets?
Sue on No Problem has a very useful page about this ('Home delivery from Tesco') and in fact she had a delivery from Tesco to her boat today.
But then, I guess the point Bruce is making is not about the ability to buy groceries for the boat, but a broader point about finding small, characterful shops.

Yeah, the point is that it's getting more and more difficult to find interesting shops near the waterways as the big guys out-compete them.
Frankly, I didn't like the Tesco delivery service when I had a house, so I'm not likely to use it from Sanity!
thanks for the mensh, though - it's much appreciated.
All the best
Bruce
