Red diesel is about to be abolished - NB Globetrotter
I'm sure there's not a boat owner in the country who is not aware, but for the record the EC has today confirmed our worst fears and announced that they have no intention of renewing the derrogation of diesel for use by pleasure boats.
A great and informative blog post by Mike Beveridge, thanks Mike! And, no, I hadn't heard the information. This is why I'm classing it as a news source, one of my Cut Life posts.
Mike didn't link to where he found the information, so I had to go hunting for it myself. I think it's important to link to other sources if you know them: these act as verifications so that unverified rumours don't start.
The BBC has nothing new on 'red diesel' today. Google News spots it on Yachting Monthly - bingo! Where else? Well, Google News only has one other source at time of writing: Fish Update - now why didn't I think to look there? Silly me. :-)
Nope, the first source to report the news, as far as I was concerned, was Globetrotter, so Globetrotter is a news source to me.
Hmm, what's the fuss? Surely the Queen can simply overrule the EU?

We took the precaution of having two separate fuel tanks installed on Belle – even so, it still does not make this EC decision any easier to accept. However, accept we must, because they are our masters today – the Queen does as she’s told.
