A bit of schtick about painting your laptop

SchtickerguyI don't believe I've mentioned Schtickers before.  These are preprinted vinyl stickers to put on your laptop cover to personalise it.

Of course, there's a good reason I've not mentioned Schtickers before: Last year I pimped my new laptop myself, with a traditional waterways 'roses & castles' design.  I didn't need Schtickers.  And besides, they don't do a waterways design.

In fact, they don't do any sort of sophisticated, intricate design.  However, you can download a full-size scan of my laptop design here, and they'll reproduce it on a custom 'LapSchtick'

Crop_0115But it wasn't my design, of course;  I commissioned it from waterways artist Victoria Hignell at last year's Saul Festival.  Her fee wasn't that much more than the $25 Schtickers charge, but it was an original work of art.  And it's on a clip-on plastic cover, so when the computer dies or becomes obsolete I can remove the cover and frame it.

When you get tired of your 'LapSchtick' you can peel it off and reuse it, but I don't think it would look quite the same framed.  And if you use my pattern, you might have to pay Victoria commission; we never discussed who owns the copyright.

But I suspect it would be a much better investment to ask Victoria or one of the Waterways Craft Guild to paint your laptop for you.
